Last Post !!!!!!!

1)This years Math Class went well, it challenged my math skills. And pushed me to learn more and do more then just the work. This class taught me that math can be like any other class where you can research and and write.
2) Yes, I would like you to send my letter
3) Next year you might want to start kind of like an after school program, for extra help of maybe even during lunch or something. And maybe make the community box maker a little more fun

Exit 5/6

1. My overall task was to graph my new surface area and find the minimum, also to use TI connect to caputer our images which was the graph and fuction from the calcultor. We was also suppose to save our images on goggle docs.

2.This is necessary to reduce the surface area keeping the volume the same and show the readers what we did and give them an explaination on what steps we took.

Exit Slip 5/4

1)The new surface area is going to be used for this project when i try to define the height for my can, and also when i simplifying my functions. The ultimate goal is to use the new function in solving for the height of the cans, also to make our can cheaper by using less material but still keeping the same volume. I will use the new SA function to find the minimum.

2) I would use this function to visually represent the relationship between the height by changing it also by showing the difference between the surface area maybe doing a before and after model. Also by creating an actual figure and changing the height and surface area of my can in order to show the relationship between the two. I will use the function to graph the relationship betweenthe radius and the SA and find the minimum.

1. It is necessary to combine two formulas in so that we can simplify our formulas, and find the surface area and the height, because we had to eliminate the height in the surface area function and leave the radius as the only independent variable. With this i found the minimum surface area r being the independent variable and SA being the dependent variable. The goal was simply to eliminate one out of two of the variables so we can one independent variable for the surface area.
2. I would need to combine the surface area formula along with the volume of a cylinder, i would need to know how to find my height, volume and surface area. I would need to know how to substitute values, divide, simplified as also justifying to apply it to me can i would also have to know my units. You need to simplify the the volume and surface area of a cylinder. Then you would also need to Solve for Height, so that you can substitute it into the surface area formula. When finishing with all of it you would need to Justify the steps it took to get the SA formula. Then you wouldn't , so you apply those and you DONE.

Exit Slip 4/30

This PBAt is called the Can Project. The task of this PBAT is to minimize the material that is being used for cans or cylinder due to the company i pick is being pressured by consumers. The task is to write a letter to the company that pick depending on the company of can presenting the dimensions of my old and new can. I must come up with a way to make the can cheaper but i must still use the same materials, but still keeping the same amount of content of the can.I have to make two physical models of my can before and after pictures. The way to do this is you must keep the same volume of the can but make the surface area smaller. Next we must find the radius, and height of the can as well. This is all a process of measuring all the dimension and knowing what you need to eliminate to minimize the material being used by these companies.

Exit Slip 4/27/10

Today some important concepts of the lesson was solving for the heights using radius and volume . And also maintaining the volume, and watching how much the radius changes when the height changes.Today the mathematical tools i used were the calculator , which helped me figure out my height, i used the computer to open a new google document well we used spread sheet and in the spread sheet i input my table of solving for the heights for my can. I also graphed the table, i named the graph Radius vs Height. The fact that we have used google document and spread sheet before made it helpful because i was familiar with working it, i know how to create the table, graph it and name it. This tool made my job easier by being very fast, its better then having to sit there and draw a table, then make a graph, knowing what scale to use our what axis is what, the spreadsheet did made it way easier for me, and its making my PBAT come along very well.

Me, Shai'Eika, Grace and Angela helped each other, by helping each other measuring and reminding each other about the formulas. I was able to to accomplish getting my measurements for example my diameter, radius, height and calculated my volume and surface area, i did both of my tables and did my calculations .

I learned measuring skills, and using formulas , and remembering my units. The skills I learned today were also how to find the height and diameter of a can or cylinder. For right now I don't have any questions to ask I understand everything that owe are going to be doing for the PBAT. I will be able to use these skills outside of school when dealing with circles,SAT,even when dealing with items that are in a cylinder for example caned food, chips, drinks.
