Today some important concepts of the lesson was solving for the heights using radius and volume . And also maintaining the volume, and watching how much the radius changes when the height changes.Today the mathematical tools i used were the calculator , which helped me figure out my height, i used the computer to open a new google document well we used spread sheet and in the spread sheet i input my table of solving for the heights for my can. I also graphed the table, i named the graph Radius vs Height. The fact that we have used google document and spread sheet before made it helpful because i was familiar with working it, i know how to create the table, graph it and name it. This tool made my job easier by being very fast, its better then having to sit there and draw a table, then make a graph, knowing what scale to use our what axis is what, the spreadsheet did made it way easier for me, and its making my PBAT come along very well.

Exit Slip 4/23/10
Me, Shai'Eika, Grace and Angela helped each other, by helping each other measuring and reminding each other about the formulas. I was able to to accomplish getting my measurements for example my diameter, radius, height and calculated my volume and surface area, i did both of my tables and did my calculations .
I learned measuring skills, and using formulas , and remembering my units. The skills I learned today were also how to find the height and diameter of a can or cylinder. For right now I don't have any questions to ask I understand everything that owe are going to be doing for the PBAT. I will be able to use these skills outside of school when dealing with circles,SAT,even when dealing with items that are in a cylinder for example caned food, chips, drinks.

Writing Objectively - 2. Tables Exit Slip 4/20/10
The results of my calculations from the two functions are shown in Table 1. The first function is y1=4x^3+5 and the second function is y2=7x^3+100.
The first column contains some values for the independent x. The scale of these values: -25 to 25 it was chosen randomly, first. The scale is set to 5.
The X values were substituted into the function, y1, and the results are displayed in the second column. Since y1 is a cubic function , I notice as the x-values increase the y-values decrease, from 0 to -25. And from 5- 25 as the x-values increase the y-value increase.
Since y2 is a cubic function y-values for y2=7x^3+100 are shown in the third column of table 1. The y-value first decrease as x-value increase from 0 to -25, then from 5 to 25 the x-value increase and the y-value increase.

The curvature of y2,compared to y1 is narrower and y1 is wider.
Compared to y1, y2's graph is shifted vertically. I see this in the graph by noting that the minimum point of y1 (0,100), and the maximum point of y2 is (0,-100). There is no horizontal shift because the lines have the same pattern horizontally.
The minimums and maximum line up at x=0.

Exit Slip Lesson 3 4/12/10
To compare and contrast two functions you use the first graph and table you created on spreadsheet (which is used mainly for graphing) and the formula you used and just make it the opposite sign if it is negative make the second functions positive if it was positive make it negative for example:
or
After, that you must make a table that includes Categories which will be your functions ,Highest degree term which is the highest term,Next degree term and Constant Term ( which is also known as the loswest term) on Google Docs. You also compare them by discussing how the graph changed do the go different ways, have the same turns. For my functions i only had the higest terms for example:
and
and 0 for the constant and next degree.
Then you drag down from the cell, creating column c which is the second line on the graph and you should have your number for Y2, edit graph rename it:compare and contrast two functions, make sure you label the y's with the function.

1) One major idea i learned today was that when using spredsheet, in order to graph or even do a table you don't need to put in all the equations you can just make an equation using the cells and just drag it down.
2) One major problem i had was finding an equation that made a curve, next time i just will take my time, im pretty sure that i know to do it on my own now and can do it alone.
